Deputy High Commissioner Attends TATA IPL Match in Chennai

The Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Chennai, Dr. Ganesanathan Geathiswaran, attended a match of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) as a Special Guest, at the invitation of the President of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association. The event was also attended by several distinguished personalities, including actress Ms. Shalini Ajith Kumar, and several other prominent guests from the fields of sports, business, media, and entertainment.

Dinner Hosted by Ms Silai Zaki, Australian Consul-General

The Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Chennai, Dr. Ganesanathan Geathiswaran, together with his spouse, participated in a dinner hosted by Ms. Silai Zaki, Consul General of Australia in Chennai, on 16 May 2026. The gathering, which was also attended by other Consuls General and members of the diplomatic community based in Chennai, provided an opportunity for cordial interaction and exchanges on matters of mutual interest.

Deputy High Commissioner Pays Courtesy Call on the District Collector and Superintendent of Police of Nagapattinam

The Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka, Dr. Ganesanathan Geathiswaran, paid a courtesy call on Thiru P. Akash, IAS, District Collector and District Magistrate of Nagapattinam, and Thiru Sujit Kumar, IPS, Superintendent of Police of Nagapattinam, on 15 May 2026. During the meeting, discussions were held on matters of mutual interest, including strengthening cooperation and maintaining close coordination between Sri Lanka and Nagapattinam District.

Deputy High Commissioner Meets Representatives of the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB)

The Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Chennai, Dr. Ganesanathan Geathiswaran, met with Ms. Vidya Dharani, General Manager, and Mr. Theodare Immanuel, Associate Vice President of the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB), Government of Andhra Pradesh, on 20 May 2026 at the Deputy High Commission in Chennai. During the meeting, the APEDB representatives briefed the Deputy High Commissioner on the investment ecosystem and emerging opportunities in Andhra Pradesh, while discussions were held on further strengthening economic cooperation between Sri Lanka and Andhra Pradesh. The discussions focused on potential collaboration in the areas of ports and maritime connectivity, fisheries and aquaculture, food processing, tourism, and trade facilitation, with particular emphasis on promoting bilateral economic engagement and institutional partnerships.

Deputy High Commissioner Participates in “Shared Stripes – Shared Futures” Workshop in Hyderabad

Dr. Ganesanathan Geathiswaran, Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka, participated along with his family in the workshop titled “Shared Stripes – Shared Futures”, held on 11 and 12 May 2026 in Hyderabad, organized jointly by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India States Division, the Government of Telangana, Telangana Rising 2047 and the Telangana Forest Department. The workshop served as an important platform for dialogue and exchange of experiences on big cat conservation, wildlife protection, and environmental sustainability among participating regions. The programme brought together diplomats, senior government officials, conservation experts, and environmental stakeholders to discuss collaborative approaches towards biodiversity conservation and ecological preservation. As part of the programme, the Deputy High Commissioner also visited the Amrabad Tiger Reserve, where delegates were briefed on ongoing conservation efforts, habitat management practices, and initiatives undertaken for the protection of endangered species and the preservation of ecological balance.

Strengthening India–Sri Lanka Economic and Investment Cooperation

Dr. Ganesh Krish, Founder & President of TNATPO and GNEXT Foundation, General Secretary of the All India TPO Association, together with Mr. Jasbin Singh, Mr. Rodney, Managing Partner of Blackstar Capital, Singapore, and Mr. Saravanan, Vice Chairman of Elite Oil and Gas, Singapore, met the Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka Dr. Ganesanathan Geathiswaran, today (14.05.2026) for cordial and constructive discussions on strengthening economic cooperation and investment collaboration between Sri Lanka and India.The discussions focused on key sectors of mutual interest, including renewable energy, data centre development, agro-based initiatives, mining, and crude oil opportunities.The meeting also facilitated a meaningful exchange of views on fostering sustainable economic growth, enhancing industry collaboration, and strengthening regional partnerships between Sri Lanka and India.
