The Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Chennai, Dr. Ganesanathan Geathiswaran, paid a courtesy call on the Hon. Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Puducherry, Shri K. Kailashnathan, on 12 June 2026. During the meeting, discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between Sri Lanka and the Union Territory of Puducherry, particularly in the areas of tourism, connectivity, and higher education. The Deputy High Commissioner highlighted the potential for enhancing tourism exchanges and explored the possibility of establishing ferry and passenger boat services between Puducherry and Sri Lanka to promote greater people-to-people contacts and economic engagement. The Hon. Lieutenant Governor appreciated the longstanding cultural and historical ties between Sri Lanka and Puducherry and expressed support for initiatives aimed at further strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
